Where Has Bob Been?
For the past month and a half, I’ve been on quite a journey, spending time in both the hospital and rehab. Here’s what happened:
June 1 – The Fall
On June 1, I had a fall at home and was rushed to the hospital by ambulance. I spent four days in the ICU before being moved to a private room.
Kidney Issues and Dialysis
After leaving the ICU, my kidneys stopped functioning. A dialysis port was placed in my chest, and now I undergo dialysis three times a week. Each session lasts four hours on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
Rehab and Recovery
Following my hospital stay, I was transferred to a local rehab center to relearn basic functions like walking, talking, and speech.
Challenges at Home
During this time, my AC unit broke down, and my water and internet were turned off. Thankfully, I have a wonderful neighbor who has been taking care of me as I continue my rehab at home.
C-Diff Infection
While in the hospital, I contracted a contagious infection called C-diff, which wasn’t discovered until I was in rehab. I was quarantined in my room for about a week. C-diff is an infection of the colon, the largest part of the large intestine. Symptoms can range from diarrhea to life-threatening damage to the colon. The bacterium is often called C. difficile or C. diff. Learn more
Looking Forward
Despite these challenges, I’m staying positive and focused on my recovery. Remember, don’t let life get in your way.
